Texas Propane - FAQ’s
What is propane?
Propane (also known as LPG or liquefied petroleum gas) is a liquid fuel stored under pressure. For residential and most commercial use propane is vaporized to a gas before it leaves the tank. Propane is flammable when mixed with air and can be ignited by many sources of ignition including open flames, electrical sparks, static electricity or cigarette. Propane has a rotten egg smell.
What are the advantages of an above ground tank?
An above ground tank can be leased or purchased. It is easier to relocate an above ground tank. The installation cost is typically lower than an underground tank. You can visually see the condition of the tank. There is no required testing to verify that the tank is not corroding.
What are the advantages of an underground tank?
The underground tank is easier to hide. You can locate the tank 10’ from the house and have the tank be virtually invisible. You don’t have to paint an underground tank.
How long does it take to get my propane delivery after I call it in?
With locations in Rockdale and Bryan we can usually get your gas delivered within a couple business days. We recommend being a “keep full” customer and we will keep your tank full so you don’t have to worry about running out of gas. If you are a sporadic or large consumer we can install a cellular tank monitor on your tank so we know exactly how much gas you have and we can guarantee you won’t run out of propane.
What are the hours that I can reach you?
You can speak to a live person 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We do not have answering services or call centers. You will speak to a knowledgeable person every time you call. We recommend calling during normal business hours but you can call any time with and emergency.
Why is your price so much lower than the other companies? Is there a catch?
At Texas Propane we are a family owned company and we treat our customers the way we like to be treated. That is why we charge a fair margin, we don’t do bait and switch pricing, we don’t charge additional fees (delivery, hazmat, fuel surcharge) and we don’t have the big company overhead that the major suppliers do. We will always be fair with our pricing and wont jack the price up later. We don’t offer “new customer pricing” because it’s not fair to our loyal customers that have been with us for a long time.
I would like to use Texas Propane for my supplier but I still have lots of gas in my current lease tank and don’t want to lose my gas. Can you transfer the fuel into the new tank?
If you would like to use Texas Propane for your propane needs, we can set you up a nice looking lease tank, transfer the fuel that you currently have and leak check your system in a couple of hours. You will not lose any fuel and we will prorate any unused tank rent that is left from your current provider. There is no cost to change out a propane tank. We have the right equipment to do the job and will not damage your lawn or landscaping in the process.
